Binh Minh ProjectThe Binh Minh Project aims to provide a school environment and personnel to train children living with disabilities. There are two Binh Minh Schools where children are tutored and cared for by Sisters of Mary Queen of Peace, in Buonmathuot and in Dong Xoai. Over the last eight years, since 2013, enough money has been raised to help build the the additional school at Dong Xoai 3 sisters have been trained to care for these children. Currently there are 80 children cared for in Buonmathuot school and 80 children cared for at Dong Xoai. Both schools have waiting lists. The school not only seeks to provide a place where children living with disabilities can thrive but also works to support their families. It is hoped that not only will the children discover the important contribution that they can make to society but all people involved in the project will discover a sense of hope for their lives. Community House for Staff TrainingThe community house in Canberra was officially opened on 8th March 2014. We recently celebrated this opening with friends and benefactors of the community in Canberra on 9th March 2019. However, since the pandemic the annual celebrations have been limited to only a few persons. The house continues to provide the opportunity for the sisters to live out the charism of our congregation in the Australian Capital Territory. This seeks to embody the corporal and spiritual works of mercy. Our sisters seek to serve the local community through providing support for the local community in Canberra and two sisters have completed their studies a Diploma in Community Services at the CIT in Canberra. This provides an opportunity for us to develop partnerships of care between Australia and Viet Nam.
